An interesting art career I have recently been doing research on is being an interior designer. While not the most flashy, it definitely incorporates many basic principles of art and requires an in depth understanding of artistic principles such as flow and ratios. The main way I found out about this career and became interested in it was from the YouTuber Dear Modern, who focuses on redesigning his viewers interior layouts and fixing poor interior design under the principles of Feng Shui. In my opinion, ideas such as Feng Shui, which aim to harmonize and individual by using the flow of ones surroundings, to heavily apply to interior design and are important for every interior designer to master.

Firstly, an interior designers main job is to make a space both functional and safe, while being visually appealing and welcoming. Many interior designers often work in conjunction with other "design" fields such as architects. Interior designers take everything from decor, to color, to lighting into account when designing a livable space in order to make it as livable as possible while effectively using the space provided, within the specifications of their client. Although anyone can design a room, it takes a special understanding to design a room effectively, while keeping it functional, and although anyone can learn principles of interior design, it is still important to have someone else knowledgeable in the subject to provide new ideas.
Due to the ambiguity of what fields interior design falls into and what qualifies as "good interior design", the only real specifications are to graduate with a bachelors degree, and preferably take fine art, drawing, interior design, and CAD classes to become familiar with concepts prevalent in interior design. Many nearby colleges offer courses in interior design, mainly VCU and J. Sarge. Community College, with many more throughout the state.
