Project 8 Process Post

This is my 2nd full project in pen and ink and I decided to approach this one using things I learned with my previous one along with approaching the composition from a narrative perspective first and using that to create the piece rather than starting with a composition and trying to imbue it with meaning.

for this piece I wanted to explore societal ignorance and society ignoring issues right in front of them.

This piece was the first time I decided to make a proof of concept work, and would say It really helped me in working on the final product and seeing what I liked, and is something I plan to do in the future.

For this work as well I decided to go in with a looser sketch and aimed at trying to get my composition to fit with the paper rather than making numerous compositions and fully ironing it out before making the final sketch.

Learning from my previous piece I decided to fully do the line work before doing shading and would say it helped me better understand how to shade and helped me get a better overall idea of light direction etc.

This was my final product before the critique, although I am happy with it, it could use some improvements. One thing I would like to change Is make the entire background a grey tone while making the alleyway the monster is in completely black to make the child stand out.
