Project 7 Process Post

This piece is a change of pace from previous ones, with my goal being to implement more of a narrative focus along with me trying pen and ink. Overall, I would say I am decently proud of it, it could use some technical improvement but as a first attempt I would say I like the result. There was a lot I learned from it and looking at my work as more of a narrative piece has definitely changed how I approach composition.

On the 3rd studio day I finished my base sketch, overall I think my main issue was that I could have zoomed in more and used the negative space more effectively, primarily in framing the bird to make it more noticeable.

For the next 2 studio days I worked on inking the piece, my main take away was that I should have finished the line work first then I should have gone in and shaded.

This is the piece more or less finished. I think it was a good first dive into pen and Ink and I learned about my preferences, on future pieces I would like to zoom in more and try to have less empty white space.
