Oil Painting Progress Post #1

Recently we started an oil painting unit, and the longest part so far has been setting up a good composition to make the painting more visually appealing.

My first composition, found it to be too busy, colors were good though(2/6/25)

My second attempt, found it too be good, but very plain color-wise(2/6/25)

Nearing a good composition, but the objects of interest are a bit too spread out in my opinion

My final composition for now, like the candles and color, but the "doohickey" might over-complicate things, also started on the sketch(2/13/25)
